PS5: The Future of Gaming RECAP (PS5 Is Here Plus 27 Upcoming Games)

By: Dylan Lepore | @dylanslegos

The next generation of gaming is here with the reveal of the PlayStation 5.

Thursday, Sony hosted their PS5: The Future of Gaming, a pre-recorded show that was broadcasted live on most streaming platforms.

The show came with the announcement of 27 upcoming games for the new console (such as Horizon Forbidden WestSpider-Man: Miles MoralesRatchet & Clank: Rift ApartDemon's Souls, and Sackboy A Big Adventure) and the official reveal of the PS5 itself.

Sony wrote, "At launch, we will offer two options: a PlayStation 5 console with an Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive and a PlayStation 5 Digital Edition without a disc drive. The PS5 gameplay experience will be the same, so the choice is all yours. While there are some slight differences in the look of each model, for the overall design, we wanted to deliver a console that's bold, stunning, and unlike any previous generation of PlayStation."

PS5 is white and black with touches of PlayStation's recognizable blue, and the console, when stood up, creates the shape of a "V" to signify Roman Numeral 5 for PlayStation 5th generation console.

This is Sony's first home console to feature no disc support, although a disc option will be available, the last time Sony chose to get rid of physical game media was for the PSP GO which flopped. Depending on sales, this could be a turning point for future generations.
