PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale Rumored to Get a Sequel Come 2021

PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale is rumored to get a sequel according to a post on 4chan.

Back in 2012, PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale released for the PlayStation 3 and the PS Vita as a way to compete with Nintendo's Super Smash Bros.; however, that didn't end up being the case.

Now selling on eBay for as low as $2.40, PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale seemed to be a flop according to fans and obviously to Sony, as far as sells and how long players played the game. On the other hand, it did meet with fairly positive reviews with Metacritic giving it a 74%, IGN giving it an 8/10, and Eurogamer giving it a 7/10. Colin Moriarty from IGN said, "PlayStation All-Stars is flawed, but fun. Every fan of the PlayStation brand should give it a go."

Even as a PlayStation fan, I played  PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale both on my PlayStation 3 and PS Vita and earned a Platinum trophy. It was fun seeing most of all my favorite PlayStation characters in a game. There were even several DLC packs that came out for the game such:

  • Super Pack Costumes
  • Isaac Clarke, Zeus and Graveyard Pack
  • Kat, Emmett and Fearless Pack
  • Super Pack Dynamic Themes
  • Minion Super Pack 1
  • Minion Super Pack 2

From the 4chan posts, the new game is rumored to be called PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale Arena and is being made by Capcom. The post states from an Anonymous source, "I am from Capcom USA, and game started to be localizing month ago, Its 3D brawler/action/arena game with single player - multiplayer modes and designed to be games as service title."

We all saw how that turned out for Mortal Kombat 11.

It continues, "It's a project that cancelled multiple times during PS4(2013-2016) era from other Sony WWS developers and partners ... Sony thinking to launch this game on PS5 at launch and PC for 2021 and not cross-gen (as far I know) ...," with no campaign.

  3. Sackboy

  5. Jak and Daxter

Now, we are not one to spread rumors; however, seeing a glimmer of hope for a new PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale game is an extraordinary thing. It allows us as PlayStation gamers to celebrate the stories we've playthrough since the '90s, packed "hopefully nicely" in a single game.
